This arrangement of the beloved hymn based on the immortal FINLANDIA theme by Sibelius is true to the spirit of the original while adding a freshness through the addition of an optional organ part to the piano accompaniment with optional flute. Thoughtfully and artfully arranged for the volunteer choir, this heartfelt choral expresses the comfort of God's promises. The third verse offers a chance to feature the men's voices, followed by a lovely SSA section.

Commissioned by the First United Methodist Church of Arab, Alabama, in honor of Eleanor Cobb and her many years of dedication and service, and based upon her favorite hymn.

This little pop gem from years gone by (words by Herb Magidson; music by Carl Sigman; arranged by Ruth Elaine Schram) is delightful for your young singers today! The text tells the listener that life is short and should be enjoyed now instead of waiting until it is too late. Ruthie has written easy, two-part harmonies, incorporating the use of echo and repetition of patterns. The feel is a rhythmic samba and both parts get to share the melody. Cute and wonderfully novel!

The traditional Hebrew prayer has been effectively set to original music in this simple, elegant piece by Linda Marcus and Ruth Elaine Schram. Unlike so many Hanukkah pieces, it is in major mode. It moves along in 3/4 time, weaving a beautiful melody on top of a flowing piano accompaniment. A part for optional C-instrument (it was recorded with flute but would be beautiful with violin or oboe) is included, as well as a description of the text by the authors, and a pronunciation guide.

I Thirst

Three scenes from the life of Christ where He experienced physical thirst are presented in this moving anthem. From the manger to the 40 days in the wilderness to his last moments on the cross, this anthem reminds us that ironically Jesus is the "Living Water" for our spiritual thirst. An optional communion text is provided for additional use as an offering for your time at the table with the Lord. Suitable for Holy Week, observances of the Lord's Supper, or explorations of the Seven Last Words of Christ.

This rhythmic, upbeat anthem is a change of pace for Advent or Christ the King Sunday, quoting the passage from Isaiah 12 as the basis for the text.  With joy and assurance we sing of His promised salvation.  Much unison and two part singing, and the repetitious nature of this piece, make it memorable and easy to learn.  Changes in voicing and dynamics add interest and propel it forward to the victorious climax.

With gentleness and a sense of awe, this expressive original anthem by Ruth Elaine Schram and her daughter and son-in-law, Celsie and Robert Staggers, tenderly cradles a picturesque text with exquisite tuneful beauty.  A contrasting middle section challenges all to hurry and behold the Savior, then the quietness of the manger returns with a quote from the familiar "O come, let us adore Him."  An optional flute obligato (included in the score) adds a lovely shimmer.
