A cappella setting of the Latin text, open scored for SATB with lots of independent movement in the voices.  A suitable challenge for contest or festival use.  The ACDA Choral Journal wrote, "Its lush chords and well-constructed vocal lines will be a welcome addition to the repertoire of any well-trained choir."

Ahrirang
Lovely setting of the beloved Korean folk song about the mountain pass of Ahrirang Hill. Sung predominantly in English, the pentatonic melodies and open harmonies are presented in unison and canon to appropriately convey the style of the song and the depiction of the text. Ahrirang is often believed to be a symbol of peace, contentment, and personal triumph. This makes a wonderful selection to teach the context and style of music from that region.

America
Ruthie has arranged the "prequel" to her very popular "America the Beautiful" (BL276), skillfully setting "America" (My Country 'Tis of Thee; Thesaurus Musicus, words by Samuel F. Smith) for three-part mixed chorus and optional baritone. Beginning with an optional intro, the song starts a cappella and builds verse by verse to a powerful conclusion. While it is magnificent on its own, an alternate ending that enables a segue into her arrangement of "America the Beautiful" creates a stirring patriotic medley. Suitable for school or church use, wonderful for end-of-year ceremonies or concerts with a patriotic theme. Commissioned by the Midland High School Chorus, Midland, Michigan (Robert Sabourin, director). <

Expressive arrangement begins in 4/4, then goes into 3/4 as the text changes to "love is flowing," then back into an energetic 4/4 section for "joy like a fountain," then ends up as it began. Ruth Elaine Schram is at her expressive best in this thoughtful tone poem that exquisitely personifies in nature the causes for human sadness. Vividly poetic with sweeping melodic and harmonic textures, this is both a memorable concert work and music of exceptional maturity for treble or mixed choirs. In addition to the Two Part version as well as the soaring SSA version, now available for SSAB ensembles.

The Wide Missouri
A fresh paring of two beloved American Folk Songs ("Shenandoah" with "The Water is Wide") will offer a moment of peaceful reflection at your concert or festival. The fluid accompaniment ties the two songs together, both culturally and geographically, with a flowing texture that represents the movement of the water. A helpful Learning Resource Page is included in order to tie the piece to the National Standards and present cross-curricular opportunities.

Originally sung for a house opening for Habitat for Humanity, Patti Drennan and Ruth Elaine Schram have written a heart warming choral evoking the message of helping others by way of both the hands and heart. Beautiful and poetic.

Expressive word pictures depict the journey of the wind and the changing of the seasons. Voices hauntingly and antiphonally sing "oo," mimicking the sound of the wind blowing "...across the ocean blue from anywhere to me..." and fading to nothing at the end.
